　　表現“選舉”，主要指選舉某人擔負某職位。若所涉及的職位只有一個(即舉世無雙)，則但凡不用冠詞。如：
　　We elected him chairman. 偺們選他噹主席。
　　They elected Nixon President. 他們選僧克緊噹總統。
　　除以上最平凡的剖明中，远似以下讲法也能夠:
　　我們選他噹主席。
　　正：We elected him (as) chairman.
　　正：We elected him (to be) chairman.
　　正：We elected him (our) chairman.
　　正：We elected him (as our) chairman.
　　有時也有傚定冠詞的情况(但省略該冠詞更常睹)。如：
　　Who is (the) captain of your team? 誰是你們隊的隊長?
　　He was elected (the) President of the United States. 他被選為好國總統。
　　【注】类似上里的句子常常要用冠詞:
　　They elected a new president (a new mayor). 他們選了一位新總統(新市長)。
